We put it first.

What plain does

Some headlines leave out the one thing you want to know: which product, what changed, who is affected, or what you need to do. The article then makes you work to find it.

plain extracts that answer, keeps the context that matters, and links back to the original. Every story is free to read. There are no ads.

How stories are prepared

We monitor English-language publishers for articles that withhold a concrete answer. An automated editor prepares a concise brief. Each claim is checked against passages in the source, followed by a separate automated review. Articles that fail those checks are skipped.

These checks do not make reporting infallible. We preserve attribution and uncertainty, and show the source and the last time it was checked. For decisions that affect you, consult the linked original or official notice.

The original is always there

Open “See the original headline & source” beneath any story to see what brought you here and where the information came from.

How we fund it

The website stays free. Our browser extension is a paid convenience: the same answers appear on supported articles while you browse. We never sell advertising space.
